The final day of walking has arrived—bittersweet, but also the shortest of the journey, with just over 15 km to cover.
We set off at our usual 8:30, leaving the hotel behind and continuing our path along the river toward Valença. The scenery was as beautiful as ever, but the heat was definitely making its presence known.

By the time we reached Valença, the temperature had climbed to a scorching 31°c. As soon as we arrived at the hotel, we dropped our bags and “raced” to the supermarket to grab some celebratory beers—well deserved after days of walking!
For our final night in Portugal, we’re staying at the conveniently located Hotel Lara, which puts us close to everything we need to enjoy our last evening.
Dinner was a lovely affair at Muralha, where we dined outdoors in the warm evening air—perfect for an alfresco meal. I indulged in a delicious grilled sea bass with spinach and potatoes, all paired with plenty of crisp vinho branco. A perfect end to an unforgettable adventure!

Before the night was over, we decided to extend the celebration. We stumbled upon a bar/club on the way back to the hotel and made a proper night of it! There was even some dancing involved—just to ensure our legs would remind us of our 136 km walk the next day!
