Today was by far the toughest of our three days of walking, and the hottest too, with temperatures climbing into the high 20s. We covered a solid 19 km over the course of more than 5 hours, with an elevation gain of 295 meters—definitely a challenge!
We moved inland on our way to Viana do Castelo, which took us through forests and wooded areas. The scenery was beautiful, but the terrain wasn’t easy—there were several steep inclines to navigate, and it brought back memories of our 2022 walk!
To make things a bit more challenging, I started having trouble with my right foot. When we reached Anha for a quick break, we still had about an hour of walking left. That’s when another walker and I made the smart decision to call it a day. With the help of one of our guides, we arranged a taxi to the hotel.
Honestly, it was the best decision I made today!
Decision time!
Tonight’s dinner was just a short 2-minute walk away at a cozy spot called Restaurante Viana Mar. While the place had a great atmosphere, I accidentally ordered a dish that was covered in breadcrumbs—oops! Not quite what I had in mind, but still a nice way to end the day.
