My words: Today was my sixth day of walking from Gernika to Lezama.
Starting off this morning my feet and legs were very sore, so I took it slow today. The inclines were not as steep (around 300m) as Tuesday, and it was a little bit cooler but still a tough day’s walking. Thanks to the 2 lovely ladies from Cork who helped me get through today.
When we arrived at Larrabetzu, the second last spot on today’s walk, my legs asked me to call it a day, as when coming into Larrabetzu, I realised I had one more hour to walk after being on the road for 8 hrs. So I grabbed a bus to Lezama!
Today was the 1st time on this trip I saw signs & writing that reminded me of what region I was walking through, the Basque region.
Distance walked around 20km.
OpenAI: Today marked the conclusion of my sixth day trekking from Gernika to Lezama.
As I embarked on the journey this morning, my feet and legs protested with soreness, prompting me to adopt a more measured pace throughout the day. Although the inclines were less daunting than Tuesday’s, reaching approximately 300 meters, and the weather a bit cooler, the day’s walk remained challenging. A debt of gratitude is owed to the two kind-hearted ladies from Cork whose companionship helped me navigate through today’s trials.
Upon reaching Larrabetzu, the penultimate destination of the day’s journey, my fatigued legs urged me to call it quits. It became apparent, as I entered Larrabetzu, that I still had another hour of walking ahead, having already spent 8 hours on the road. Consequently, I made the decision to hop on a bus to Lezama, concluding my day’s travel.
Notably, today marked the first occasion on this expedition where I encountered signs and writing that unmistakably reflected the unique character of the Basque region.
Covering a distance of approximately 20km, today’s journey was a test of endurance and resilience.
