About
Trying to be more Tech Independence and this website is part of my journey.
I created this travel blog back in the summer of 2021 as an aid to learn how to build websites using 11ty and Astro and to understand GitHub. This travel blog is a clone of the awesome astro-paper, a minimal, accessible and SEO-friendly Astro blog theme.
In the past I blogged using WordPress circa 2006, and I hope to import these old posts into this blog in the future.
After a recent discussion with friends about the today’s use of AI in our modern world, as an experiment I’m using a couple of AI writing tools, HyperwriteAI and OpenAI, and most recently claude.ai to generate content for some of the blog posts on this website. The AI instruction is… ‘make this text more engaging’. Check a story’s tags for the tag ai to indicate the use of Skynet’s AI.
I’m using giscus for comments. giscus is a comments system powered by GitHub Discussions and lets visitors leave comments on this blog via GitHub.
For analytics, I’m using Umami. Umami is an open-source, privacy-focused web analytics tool that serves as an alternative to Google Analytics. It provides essential insights into website traffic, user behavior, and performance, all while prioritising data privacy.
Unlike many traditional analytics platforms, Umami does not collect or store personal data, avoiding the need for cookies, and is GDPR and PECR compliant.
